Trike maintenance and Trailer tips
Rear ends:
H-D / give the rear end one shot of grease every other time you change oil.
Honda / give the u-joint one shot of grease every other time you change oil.
Battery Tender:
Leave the battery tender on when not riding your trike.
The clock or security system will drain the battery if left for long periods of time.
Tire Air Pressure:
Please call for rear tire air pressure information.
Add whatever the manufacturer recommends for the bike’s front tire.
Oil Changes:
Continue using the same oil that you prefer to use in your bike.
Change oil as often as the bike manufacturer recommends.
Cleaning Products:
We use and sell Protective Products Corporation (PPC).
There are many good cleaning products out there.
The main thing is that ….you actually uses them.
Trailer Tips:
- Inspect the hitch and trailer prior to loading.
- Do not exceed 35 lb. tongue weight.
- Load the trailer with 60 percent of the weight in front of the axle and even from side to side.
- Maintain a greater space to the vehicle in front to allow for longer stopping distances.
- Provide extra distance when overtaking other vehicles.
- Select a lower gear on long or steep downhill grades to increase control and conserve the brakes.
- Avoid sudden lane changes or swerving to reduce the risk of developing sway.
- Be cautious in high winds or when passing large oncoming vehicles as buffeting may induce sway.
- Take more frequent rest breaks.
