July 17th, 2011 - LIberty Ride

Liberty RideLiberty RideOn Sunday, July 17th, 2011, we had a heat index of 111 degrees; but that did not stop Midwest Pride One Chapter from going on a 110 mile ride. There were 13 Trikes and 23 people. We just started our ride when… we sat for 10 minutes as a freight train passed before us. As we started to move again there was a sigh of appreciation as we felt the movement of air that brought relief from the heat. Susie's Roadhouse in Ostrander, MN was the choice of our lunch stop. There was a lot of joking and laughing together as we enjoyed our tasty lunch. It felt good to cool down before we continued the beautiful ride. It was a welcomed treat to have root beer floats served to us upon returning to Timm's Trikes.

June 25th - 26th, 2011 - Overnight Ride

Overnight RideOvernight RideJune 25-26, 2011 was the overnight ride for Midwest Pride One Chapter. Road Captain, Dave Goranson, led 7 Trikes as they started their ride from the Frontenac Station in Frontenac, MN. It was a 240 mile ride through the beautiful scenic countryside to our destination of the North Star Mohican Casino in WI. Nature threatened us with rain, but we were able to stay ahead of her grasp. The nearly 500 mile ride ended with a stop at the Cheese Factory in Nelson, WI. While tasting our favorite flavors of ice cream, we had time to reflect on our overnight ride. It was a pleasant end to an excellent time. Our riders were Dave & Margaret Goranson, Marc & Ann Bryand, John & Nancy Geier, Bill & Kathy Frie, Arlene Hueman, Barb Foss and Jane Batterson.

June 16th, 2011 - Hansens' Hold-Up & War Memorial

Hansens' Hold-Up & War MemorialHansens' Hold-Up & War MemorialJune 16th, 2011 was the date set for Midwest Pride One Chapter's Hansen's Hold-up & War Memorial ride. We were an awesome site as 20 Trikes and 2 Bikes sped through the hills of Wisconsin. At our first stop, Hansen's Hold-up, they have a memorabilia display of western ledges on their walls & ceilings; they also offer a view across a beautiful green valley that stretches about 40 miles. It is simply breathtaking! Our next stop was the War Memorial in Arcadia, WI that is filled with historical information dating back from the civil war to our present time. I was captivated by the piece of twisted steel I-Beam that was once a part of the structural steel of one of the world trade center twin towers. It was obtained from the city of New York and donated by Ashley Furniture in September 2002. Our last stop was at Nelson, WI for ice cream (yum!) and saying our Good-By's as we went our separate ways.

May 15th, 2011 - Meal, Meeting & Hill Ride

Meal, Meeting & Hill RideMeal, Meeting & Hill RideHansens' Hold-Up & War MemorialOur scrumptious meal of smoked beef brisket, German potato salad, coleslaw, and calico beans were prepared by Steve Verthein. (Thanks Steve!) After a very short meeting we were off on our first ride of the season. As we traveled through the countryside we were able to appreciate the signs and smells of spring all around us. It was incredible!!!
Our first stop of the day was at the famous Fremont Store in Fremont, MN. The store is celebrating 154 years and still doing business… the old fashioned way. Stopping to overlook the quaint little town of Preston, MN was our second stop; we enjoyed the beautiful waterfall as well as the terrific view. The weather cooperated and the ride was well worth waiting for. There were 13 Trikes and 2 Bikes touring the Minnesota countryside together. We all had a fantastic time!

March 6th, 2011 - Chili DumpMarch 6th, 2011 - Chili Dump Midwest Pride One had its annual Chili Dump here at Timm's Trikes on March 6, 2011. If you are not familiar with the event… each couple brings a quart of their chili and we dump it together and let it simmer a bit. Anyone can bring anything additional and we always have an abundance of food. We also had a short meeting to firm up our riding schedule for the season. We are so proud of our chapter members and the way they volunteer for the "Road Captains" position and the responsibilities that go with the job.
